Mentor: Dr. Masanori Aikawa

I am a Research Fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Sciences in the Cardiovascular Division of Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

I graduated from Hokkaido University in Japan and qualified the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. I joined the Nonclinical Safety Department at the Fuji Research Laboratories in Kowa Company Ltd. I oversaw non-clinical safety evaluation of pemafibrate, a novel selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) modulator and contributed to obtaining the new drug approval from PMDA in 2017. I am a Diplomat of Japanese Society of Toxicology.

I joined Dr. Masanori Aikawa’s laboratory in 2018 to explore and establish the new therapeutic targets for pro-inflammatory activation of macrophages. In particular, we are validating a proof of concept for loss of function effects of our target in animal disease models using CD34+ humanized mice.
