Mentor: Rajat Gupta

Mounica Yanamandala earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Chicago in 2011 and was nominated to Phi Beta Kappa. She obtained her medical degree at the University of California, Irvine and did her residency as well as chief residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein Medical School/Montefiore Medical Center where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. She is currently a clinical and research fellow in Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is doing her post-doctoral work with Dr. Raj Gupta. Her research interests include vascular biology with a focus in genetics with a goal to better understand fundamental mechanisms underlying the development of aortic aneurysms. Outside of lab, she enjoys hiking, reading, baking and exploring the food scene in Boston.
