Mentor: Dr. Masanori Aikawa
Takehiro Funamizu is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Sciences (CICS) in the Cardiovascular Division of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He obtained his MD from Juntendo University in 2011 and completed his PhD at Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine in the lab of Dr. Hiroshi Iwata in 2020. He studied the relationship between HDL function and aortic valve calcification. He joined Masanori Aikawa’s lab in November 2022 and is investigating the role of macrophage activation and exploring potential therapeutic targets against atherosclerosis.
