Mentor: Dr. Calum MacRae

I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at BWH and HMS, as well as a resident in cardiothoracic surgery at the Turku University Hospital, Finland. I obtained my MD from the University of Turku and PhD from the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Turku University Hospital, Finland, in 2019. During my PhD, I focused on epidemiological and clinical features of ascending aortic pathologies, as well as its complications, surgical treatment options and outcomes. I joined Dr. MacRae’s lab in May 2021. Currently, I aim to utilise zebrafish models and other state-of-art technologies to study genetic pathways and epigenetic mechanisms that cause aortic aneurysms and dissections in humans.
