Mentor: Dr. Mark Feinberg

Anurag Jamaiyar earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology and Chemistry from Bangalore University in India. After obtaining his Master of Science in Applied Genetics from the same institution, he joined the PhD program in Biomedical Sciences at Kent State University in Ohio. His doctoral dissertation was on coronary collateral growth induced by repetitive ischemia in mouse hearts. He earned his PhD in 2020 and joined the Feinberg lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School subsequently. Under Dr. Feinberg’s mentorship, Anurag is investigating how angiogenesis is impacted in diabetic mouse hearts using myocardial infarction or ischemia/reperfusion injury models. He specializes in all things microscopy and has brought new skills such as optical clearing and light-sheet microscopy and AI based image analysis to the Feinberg lab.
